REFLECTION

Experience
In this semester's course, I have studied the field of typesetting more deeply. For example, explore the design of typesetting system, text signs and so on. These tasks and learning experiences are both challenging and rewarding. For example, some systems, such as axial system and modular system in Exercise 1, encountered difficulties in achieving satisfactory layout. However, through many attempts, I gradually mastered the characteristics and arrangement rules of each system; Font design project is a comprehensive and challenging work. In the process of designing font posters and accessories related to the starry sky theme, I can explore different design concepts and color palettes. I enjoy the process of presenting fonts in various practical objects. In this semester's study, I feel that my design ability has been improved to some extent, and I am also motivated to study in the next step. Although the whole process is troublesome and sometimes painful, when I came over, I found that they didn't seem as difficult as I thought. Typesetting is a very important course in design, so if I can master this skill well, I believe I will greatly improve in the field of design.

Observation
On the whole, I have learned a lot of knowledge and improved my skills to some extent, but I know that I still have a lot of room for improvement, and my work is still not good enough. Compared with my previous ignorance, I am more familiar with my learning process and my attitude is more serious. And my ability to withstand pressure has also improved. To tell the truth, I was really prone to nervous breakdown at first, but fortunately I was able to overcome this and improve myself slowly. This semester's curriculum is tight and there are many tasks, so I often stay up late, thinking I should continue to improve my efficiency to ensure adequate sleep. In the process of completing these tasks, I also observed many characteristics of typesetting. For example, when studying typesetting system, I found that they are all helpful to create an organized and visually attractive layout, and they all have unique characteristics and rules; In font design, details are very important, and the shape and spacing of letters will affect the aesthetics and readability of fonts. In the design of collateral, typesetting is still very important because it involves words, and the integration of color selection, layout and other elements plays a key role in visual aspects.

Findings
The whole course is gradual, and all the contents learned in the early stage can be applied to the later production. The importance of different typesetting concepts and systems requires me to understand and use them. This knowledge provides a certain foundation for creating beautiful and diversified designs, which can make me more clear about the design direction, handle each design task from a more sensible perspective, and choose the best typesetting solution. At the same time, the role of reference and inspiration is very important, because it involves the design concept. The design we make should not only have the form, but also have the core, which is the higher-order design. Generally speaking, I have made some progress in terms of design ability and mentality, but I know that I am still not good enough and I still need to continue to work hard. At the same time, I realized the importance of feedback. Mr. Vinod gave guidance and suggestions very seriously and timely, and provided very valuable advice on improving my design. Such clear and effective communication can make me clear the advantages and disadvantages of my work and make adjustments in time. Generally speaking, this course has improved my technical ability in typesetting, and further improved my aesthetic ability, observation, creativity and so on. I will apply what I have learned to the later design.
